Hyundai shipyard tour

Thursday we took a bus out to the foreigner compound for a tour of the Hyundai shipyard that is hosted by FLIK (foreign life in Korea). There were about 15 people including Australia, Russia, India, and the UK. They showed a short movie and then took us through the Asan memorial/museum (the founder). Then we drove around the shipyard. The place is amazing. The dry dock work looks so elaborate. We also were able to see a special private hanok where a potential buyer might be housed while here. The tour ended with a complimentary lunch. The FLIK people really try to help the foreigners - and even though we are not with Hyundai, we were welcome too. The two hostesses were interested to hear I'll be teaching at the university. One family has children at the foreign school and have been very happy. The woman and her daughter from the UK recommended an Aveda salon for hair cut and color and I spotted it downtown. Next week we will take the Motor Manufacturing tour.

Saturday morning we head to Busan to fly to Jeju Island - the top vacation destination in Korea and very popular. It is a bit southwest of the main land. We come back to Ulsan Wed. And then we have new student orientation Friday.
